This initiative aims to equip the local business community with essential tools and knowledge to thrive in today's economy. The roadshow focused on empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMMEs) through informative and interactive sessions. By bringing services directly to businesses, the government seeks to foster economic development at the grassroots level. During the event, attendees could access valuable services such as company registrations, SARS compliance assistance, and support for Central Supplier Database (CSD) registrations. One of the highlights of the roadshow was the information session on accessing purchase order finance. This segment targeted Northern Cape SMMEs, equipping them with vital information about various funding opportunities to enhance their ability to fulfill government procurement contracts. By addressing existing gaps in purchase order and invoice discounting markets, the session aimed to empower local businesses to leverage these opportunities, contributing to enterprise development and job creation in the province. Recognising the pressing need for financial literacy, the training session focused on addressing common challenges small business owners face. Numerous studies indicate that many South African SMMEs struggle due to a lack of financial knowledge and business management skills. This training aimed to equip entrepreneurs with essential tools to manage their finances effectively, thus improving their sustainability and growth prospects. Another significant training was on Local Content, which aimed to familiarise suppliers in the Frances Baard district municipality with its principles and significance in South Africa. Participants learned how to navigate Preferential Procurement Regulations and identify designated products, ultimately fostering increased local participation in procurement processes. Additionally, a workshop on corporate governance was held, aimed explicitly at empowering female cooperative enterprises. This session focused on implementing effective governance structures and promoting ethical practices within organisations, particularly in the Northern Cape Preferential Procurement Framework. Finally, the costing and pricing training session aimed to enhance the skills of local entrepreneurs regarding accurate pricing and costing methods. Participants were better equipped to contribute to the province's economic growth by understanding compliance issues and successfully bidding for public procurement opportunities. The Annual Supplier Engagement Roadshow showcased a strong commitment to uplifting the local business community through knowledge and resource sharing. These targeted initiatives are designed to create a thriving environment for SMMEs in the Northern Cape, fostering innovation, job creation, and sustainable economic growth. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to work toward empowering our local businesses! |
