1. UIF Adoption BenefitsIf you’re adopting a child under two, you may claim UIF adoption benefits. One of the adoptive parents can apply by submitting the child’s court adoption order, ID, and relevant forms to the Department of Labour.
2. UIF Dependants’ BenefitsWhen a UIF-contributing worker passes away, their dependants (spouse or children) can claim benefits. Submit the death certificate, claimant’s ID, proof of relationship, and completed forms to the Department of Labour.
3. UIF Illness BenefitsIf you cannot work due to illness for more than seven days, you may apply for UIF illness benefits. Provide a medical certificate, ID, and completed forms through the Department of Labour.
4. UIF Maternity BenefitsPregnant employees can claim maternity benefits from UIF. Apply at least 8 weeks before childbirth with a medical certificate, proof of pregnancy, and necessary forms. You may receive up to 17.32 weeks of benefits.
5. Register for UIFEmployers must register their workers for UIF. Registration can be done online or at a Labour Centre. Employers need to submit company and employee details and keep up with monthly contributions.
6. UIF Unemployment BenefitsIf you lose your job through retrenchment or contract expiry (not dismissal), you can apply for UIF unemployment benefits. Submit your ID, last payslip, and relevant forms at a Labour Centre or online within six months of becoming unemployed.
