Kimberley Ready to Shine Ahead of the Diamond and Dorings Big Hole Marathon

The Department of Economic Development and Tourism, in collaboration with the municipality, key stakeholders, and the local community, successfully hosted a two-day Clean-Up Route Campaign as part of the build-up to the prestigious Diamond and Dorings Big Hole Marathon, set to take place on Saturday, 22 November 2025, in Kimberley.

The campaign demonstrated the power of collective action, as an enthusiastic and committed team came together with a shared purpose to restore pride, cleanliness, and dignity to the streets of our historic city. Activities included sweeping streets, managing waste, and collecting litter along key marathon routes, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for athletes, visitors, and residents alike.

This initiative went beyond environmental responsibility; it reinforced the values of active citizenship, partnership, and community ownership. By working hand in hand, government, stakeholders, and community members proved that when we unite around a common goal, meaningful and visible change is possible.

As Kimberley prepares to host runners and spectators from across the country, the Clean-Up Route Campaign stands as a testament to our commitment to sustainable development, tourism promotion, and economic growth. A clean city is not only a source of pride but a catalyst for opportunity, investment, and positive visitor experiences.
