Thumps up for Farm Workers Increment in the Province

The Northern Cape Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development is welcoming the increment of farm workers in the province next month with open hands.  This after the Department of Labour announced yesterday that farm workers salary will increase by 75 cents per hour in march. Farm workers are leaving under abject poverty and appalling conditions therefore an increment will assist where possible. Hence an integrated approach is vital in solving challenges facing farm workers and farm dwellers.

Department welcomes festive rains

The Northern Cape Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development has welcomed the good rains that has rained in the past days. The Festive rains will ease the burden on our farmers especially the emerging farmers who are the hardest hit by drought. It will also bring a sigh of relief to our farmers both commercial and emerging.

The Department was noting with concern the dryness of the veld, due to lack of rain in the past months.

The dryness of the vegetation due to lack of rain create perfect conditions for runaway veld fires.
