1. Register as a Provisional Taxpayer
Provisional taxpayers are individuals or entities who earn income not subject to PAYE (like freelancers or rental income). You must register with SARS and submit two provisional tax returns annually. Registration can be done online via eFiling or at a SARS branch.

2. Register as a Taxpayer
All individuals who earn above the tax threshold must register with SARS. This is usually done automatically by your employer, but you can also register yourself via eFiling or at a SARS office using your ID and proof of address.
