MEC for the DTSL

Ms Limakatso Alfonsina Koloi is currently a member of the NCPL (Northern Cape Provincial Legislature) for the ANC.

Current Roles:

Appointed MEC for Transport, Safety and Liaison, Northern Cape Executive Council – in office since 21 January 2025.

Previous Positions:

Member of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature (MPL) since 22 May 2019.

Additionally, she held membership positions in various legislative and oversight committees between May 2022 and May 2024, such as:

• Rules Committee
• Gender, Women, Children and Persons with Disabilities Committee

Mr Rodney Eric Pieterse: Head of Department

Rodney Eric Pieterse is a dedicated professional with a wealth of experience in the fields of education, public administration, and leadership. With a solid academic foundation and an impressive track record in various roles, he currently holds the esteemed position of Head of Department at Transport, Safety and Liaison until 30 June 2027.

Academic Accolades

HOD Rodney Pieterse obtained the following qualifications:

• Diploma in Education at Bellville College of Education
• Bachelor of Administration at the University of South Africa (UNISA)
• Bachelor of Public Administration in Honours at Management College of Southern Africa (MANCOSA)
• Master of Public Administration at University of Free State (UFS)
• Certificate in Business Risk Management at University of Cape Town (UCT)

Current Role

Currently serving as the Head of Department at Transport, Safety and Liaison, Mr Pieterse continues to excel as a transformative leader. His strategic thinking, honed through his diverse experiences, allows him to steer the department towards enhanced safety measures and efficient liaison practices. His leadership style emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement, fostering a conducive environment for the team to thrive.

Professional Journey

• 1995 – 2002 : Educator at Petrusville Primary School and Petrusville High School.
• 2002 – 2005 : Labour Relations Officer, at the Northern Cape Department of Education.
• 2005 – 2008 : Public Relations Officer at the Pixley Ka Seme District Municipality.
• 2008 – 2013 : Manager in the Office of Executive Mayor at Pixley Ka Seme District Municipality.
• 2013 – 2022 : Municipality Manager at Pixley Ka Seme District Municipality.

Achievements and Accolades

Throughout his career, Mr Pieterse has garnered recognition for exemplary team work. The Pixley Ka Seme District Municipality earned a Certificate of Excellence from SALGA for Improved Audit Opinion for the year 2013 – 2014.

Pixley Ka Seme District Municipality also received the COGHSTA 2nd Runner-Up Govan Mbeki Housing Award in 2014, demonstrating his contribution to housing initiatives.

Pixley Ka Seme District Municipality received an award and recognition for the Best Public Sector Internship and Learnership Programme Award from the National Skills Authority (NSA).

Community Engagement

Mr Pieterse’s commitment extends beyond the professional sphere into his community. He served as the Chairperson of the Community Policing Form (CPF) in Petrusville, actively collaborating with local authorities to enhance safety measures. As a member of the School Governing Body at Petrusville High School, he demonstrated his dedication to quality education and youth development.
