Our Mission

Our mission is:

  • To facilitate, develop and support systems and structures to enhance traditional leadership.
  • To ensure the efficient, effective and economic utilization of departmental resources to maximize service delivery
  • To facilitate and manage integrated sustainable human settlements and infrastructure development for effective service delivery.
  • To facilitate, monitor and support the consolidation and sustainability phases at municipalities for integrated and sustainable service delivery.
  • To promote and support inter-sphere engagement for integrated planning and co-ordination.

PROGRAMME 1: ADMINISTRATION

 Goal StatementA well -run and effectively coordinated department with skilled public servants who are committed to the public good and capable of delivering consistently high quality service.


PROGRAMME 2: HUMAN SETTLEMENTS

 Strategic Outcome Oriented GoalSustainable Human         Settlements    and Improved Quality of Household Life
 Goal StatementSustainable Human Settlements with access to basic services, amenities and security of tenure in urban and rural communities by the end of current MTSF.


PROGRAMME 3: COOPERATIVE GOVERNANCE

 Strategic Outcome Oriented GoalBuilding A Responsive, Accountable, Effective and Efficient Developmental Local Government System.  
 Goal Statement  Strengthening capacity of the 31 municipalities of the Province to deliver sustainable infrastructure development and maintenance, and increase access to basic services including job creation, provision of free basic services and local economic development; as well as promoting good governance and deepening participatory democracy at local level by 2019.  


PROGRAMME 4: TRADITIONAL AFFAIRS

 Strategic Outcome Oriented GoalAn efficient and effective institution of traditional leadership that enhances sustainable development and service delivery within traditional communities.
 Goal StatementEnhance cooperation between traditional authorities and elected local government councillors as well as private sectors (mines) on developmental issues during the next five years.
