\"\"The Premier, Dr. Zamani Saul, together with the MEC responsible for Health, Mr. Maruping Lekwene, this week officiated over the sod turning of the Dr. Izak Van Niekerk Oncology Centre in Springbok.<\/p>\n

The joint initiative together with Vedanta Zinc International, is part of the Northern Cape Provincial Government’s commitment to decentralise the Oncology Treatment services in the Northern Cape.<\/p>\n

This investment is valued at approximately R22m and is designed with 10 chemotherapy treatment beds and will run full time with a capacity to treat up to 250 people per month.
\nThe centre comes as a relief to many who have had to travel long distances to Kimberley or Cape Town for treatment.  Premier Saul, in his remarks committed Governments full support towards the completion of the project. The envisioned completion date of the Oncology Treatment Centre is December 2025.<\/p>\n
