Launch of Women’s Month
The Premier of the Northern Cape, Ms Sylvia Lucas, invites members of the media to a media breakfast to officially launch the Women’s Month Programme.
The month of August was declared Women’s month by the democratically elected government of South Africa following a series of political activism by women during the struggle for liberation.


The current administration under the stewardship of President JZ Zuma made a profound commitment to the people of the Northern Cape that the main focus of this current term of the administration is to establish a university in the province. On Thursday 25 July 2013 the President announced the name of the university and the interim council. The university in the Northern Cape will be named Sol Plaatje University.
Various members of the community representing faith based organisations, private sector and the Public Service came out in numbers to pray for the former President of our country, Nelson Mandela. The prayer service was called to give thanks to the life of the former icon and also to pray that the Almighty should keep him in the palm of His Hand. Ministers present from different denominations also prayed for Mandela’s family and relatives and for unity of the nation.
