Statement By The Premier Of The Northern Cape, Ms Sylvia Lucs On The Provincial Audit Outcomes Of The 2012/2013 Financial Year

The Northern Cape Provincial Government is committed to delivering high standards of services to the people of the province in a professional and accountable manner. In 2012 we made a commitment to the people of the province to improve on audit outcomes to demonstrate our seriousness on accountability after only 40% of departments received unqualified audit opinions.

Female Entrepreneur Competition Awards 2013

The Northern Cape Premier Ms Silvia Lucas will advance the empowerment of women, by honouring the best Female Entrepreneurs for their outstanding role in agriculture’s economic sector and the promotion of household food security. Premier Lucas together with the MEC for Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, Mr Norman Shushu will confer the honours at the gala awards ceremony in Port Nolloth, Namakwa District on 07th August 2013.

Launch of Women’s Month

The Premier of the Northern Cape, Ms Sylvia Lucas, invites members of the media to a media breakfast to officially launch the Women’s Month Programme.

The month of August was declared Women’s month by the democratically elected government of South Africa following a series of political activism by women during the struggle for liberation.

Update on the establishment of the university in the Northern Cape

The current administration under the stewardship of President JZ Zuma made a profound commitment to the people of the Northern Cape that the main focus of this current term of the administration is to establish a university in the province. On Thursday 25 July 2013 the President announced the name of the university and the interim council. The university in the Northern Cape will be named Sol Plaatje University.
