{"id":1676,"date":"2026-06-09T17:59:05","date_gmt":"2026-06-09T17:59:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.northerncape.gov.za\/dsac\/2026\/06\/09\/dsac-to-host-langeberg-heritage-tour-as-part-of-youth-month-build-up-programme\/"},"modified":"2026-06-09T17:59:05","modified_gmt":"2026-06-09T17:59:05","slug":"dsac-to-host-langeberg-heritage-tour-as-part-of-youth-month-build-up-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.northerncape.gov.za\/dsac\/2026\/06\/09\/dsac-to-host-langeberg-heritage-tour-as-part-of-youth-month-build-up-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"DSAC TO HOST LANGEBERG HERITAGE TOUR AS PART OF YOUTH MONTH BUILD-UP PROGRAMME"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture through the Heritage Services Unit, together with the DSAC John Taolo Gaetsewe District Office and in collaboration with district stakeholders, will host the Langeberg War Heritage Educational Tour as part of the 2026 Youth Month build-up programme.<\/p>\n<p>The programme aims to promote heritage awareness amongst young people, with specific focus on the Langeberg War of 1897, one of the most historically significant wars of resistance against colonialism and land invasion in the Northern Cape.<\/p>\n<p>This year&rsquo;s tour will focus on educating young people, community members and hiking enthusiasts about the historical significance of the Langeberg area.
