Upon successful completion, participants will be awarded an NQF Level 1 Certificate, an important milestone that enhances employability and creates pathways into entrepreneurship within the construction sector.

The programme officially commenced on 1 October 2025, beginning with structured theory sessions held from 1 to 10 October and continuing from 27 to 31 October 2025. Following the theoretical component, participants engaged in hands-on practical training, allowing them to apply their knowledge in real-world conditions and strengthen their technical competencies.

This skills development initiative is being implemented as part of a paving project that not only improves local infrastructure but also empowers communities through meaningful skills transfer. By integrating training with active service delivery, the programme ensures that learning translates directly into tangible community development outcomes.

More than just a training intervention, the RPL programme is about restoring dignity, building confidence, and unlocking economic opportunities. Through strategic investment in skills development, DEDAT continues to lay a solid foundation for a modern, growing Northern Cape one where inclusive economic participation and sustainable livelihoods are within reach for all.

DOWNLOADS

Contact Details
Communications

Thirty participants from the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) are stepping into brighter and more sustainable futures through a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) training initiative facilitated by the Northern Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDAT), in partnership with Khusela Integrated Academy.
