""As part of Women's Month in August, the Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDaT) conducted a successful confectionery training program in Kuruman, John Taolo Gaetsewe District. The program, designed to empower 14 women and one gentleman, aimed to transform local SMMEs by providing essential skills that will take their businesses to new heights.

Participants dove into hands-on practical sessions, turning theoretical knowledge into delicious creations. From mastering baking techniques to perfecting their sweet treats, these budding entrepreneurs gained invaluable skills and insights, setting them up for success in the competitive confectionery industry.

For many, the training went beyond just learning how to bake; it became a pathway to empowerment. Whether aspiring to open their own patisserie or simply enhance their culinary skills, the program provided a platform for participants to dream big and pursue their passions with confidence.

The sweet aroma of freshly baked goods filled the air, symbolizing the hope and opportunities the training offered. Each participant left with not only a newfound mastery of confectionery but also the skills and tools necessary to turn their aspirations into reality.

This initiative marks a significant stride by DEDaT towards fostering economic growth and community empowerment. As we celebrate the achievements of these aspiring bakers, we look forward to the positive impact their talents and entrepreneurial spirit will bring to our community

DEDaT proudly handed over essential equipment to the participants as part of the program’s conclusion. This crucial support equips local SMMEs with the tools and knowledge they need to elevate their enterprises, driving economic growth and job creation within the John Taolo Gaetsewe District.
