The training began with an in-depth exploration of the theoretical foundations behind the art and science of hair and beauty. By establishing a solid knowledge base, participants gained valuable insights into the techniques and principles needed to thrive in this competitive industry. The program aimed to improve product quality, boost employment opportunities, and position SMMEs to grow and compete effectively within the market. As the program progressed, it shifted focus to hands-on, practical training. Thirteen women and two men actively participated, applying their theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios. These practical sessions were vital for building their confidence and refining their skills, ensuring they could deliver high-quality services and products to their clients. The final day of the training introduced participants to advanced hair and beauty techniques, equipping them with a competitive edge that will set them apart in the industry. Each participant received a comprehensive starter kit, providing the essential tools needed to launch or expand their businesses successfully. According to Ms Motsage from the Women Empowerment unit, “This initiative is a testament to DEDaT’s ongoing commitment to supporting SMMEs, fostering job creation, and empowering entrepreneurs to succeed. Through such programs, the department continues to uplift communities and nurture local talent, helping entrepreneurs thrive in the ever-evolving marketplace”. |
