EPWP Financial Literacy Training Held at Metlife Towers

Metlife Towers recently hosted a significant training session to equip participants with critical financial literacy skills. Under the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP), this event attracted 60 eager attendees from various sectors, alongside an official from the National Department of Public Works.

The EPWP, a government initiative designed to provide income relief through temporary work, continues to empower individuals with key skills to improve their employability and economic well-being. The financial literacy training session is one such initiative, ensuring that participants earn an income and gain the necessary knowledge to manage their finances effectively.

Held at the Metlife Towers, the training covered vital topics such as budgeting, saving, responsible borrowing, and managing personal finances. The goal was to equip attendees with the tools to make sound financial decisions that can enhance their economic stability in the long run.

The National Department of Public Works official opened the session, emphasising the importance of financial education in promoting sustainable livelihoods. He noted that while the EPWP provides immediate income opportunities, the programme's long-term success hinges on its participants' ability to manage and grow their financial resources.

Throughout the session, attendees actively participated in practical exercises and discussions. They were given tools to evaluate their current financial habits and guided on improving their financial planning.

The feedback from the attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing gratitude for the knowledge gained. Participants were particularly appreciative of the practical approach taken during the training, which allowed them to apply the concepts to their personal financial situations.

As the session concluded, the EPWP reaffirmed its commitment to not only providing work opportunities but also ensuring that individuals are equipped with the skills necessary to thrive beyond the programme. The financial literacy training at Metlife Towers is one of many such initiatives that the EPWP plans to roll out in its mission to empower individuals and promote financial independence across the country.

This training marks another milestone in the government's efforts to build sustainable communities through education and skill development, and it is expected to have a lasting impact on the participants' financial well-being.
