The formal programme featured powerful reflections from MEC Manopole, highlighting the importance of men’s mental and physical health, breaking the silence around emotional struggles, and encouraging early health screenings. A strong call to action was made on the fight against Gender-Based Violence, with a reminder that men must lead through accountability, compassion and positive influence in their families, workplaces and communities. One of the key milestones of the day was the re-launch of the DAERL Men’s Forum, a platform aimed at fostering dialogue, support and responsible leadership among men within the Department. The MEC acknowledged the outgoing Chairperson, Dr Letsie, and welcomed the newly elected Chairperson, Mr Mguzulwa.

The day concluded with interactive activities including target shooting, quad biking, and a Potjiekos competition which promoted camaraderie, wellness and team-building among staff. As we mark International Men’s Day, DAERL celebrates the men who lead with purpose, serve with compassion, and contribute to building a safer, healthier and more caring Northern Cape.

#moderngrowingsuccessfulprovince

#ncdaerl

MEC Mase Manopole, joined by HOD Zolile Monakali, led the Department’s International Men’s Day commemoration, a day dedicated to honouring the value, integrity, leadership and wellbeing of men in our communities.
