Unemployed agricultural graduates from the Northern Cape have been placed in various sectors of agriculture, forestry and fisheries to reduce the high youth unemployment rate.
Veld fires raging out of control have destroyed about 7000 hectares of grazing land in Pniel, Secretaris, Rooipoort and Goodhoop farms outside Barkley West in the Northern Cape.
About 33 000 hectares of grazing land in JTG District on the Wonderwerk farm 40 km outside Kuruman towards Danielskuil were destroyed by veld fires. The fires spread to the neighbouring farms in the ZF Mcgawu District.
