Regulate compliance to the Meat Safety Act(Act 40 of 2000)
Purpose
The purpose of the sub programme is to promote the safety of meat and meat products.
Functions
- Promote the safety of meat and meat products at harvesting level through the registration and monitoring of abattoirs.
- Promote food safety awareness programmes.
- Liaise with relevant stakeholders on the prevention and treatment of food borne diseases.
- Provide auditing and quality assurance services along the food value chain process.
- Provide residue and microbial monitoring service.
