The Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development is calling on everyone to be mindful of the fact that various diseases harmful to human health can be transmitted to people through the consumption of contaminated food.
The department is advising communities to ensure that they source meat and diary products at registered outlets. Meat inspectors assigned by the department at registered outlets ensure that no meat or products harmful to human health enters the food chain.
The department is also urging communities not to slaughter and consume meat or milk from sick animals. By adhering to the department’s advise, the community will contribute in insuring that they do not contract preventable food borne diseases. END
