Programme 3: Cooperative Governance<\/span><\/h2>\n

Purpose<\/p>\n

The purpose of this programme is to strengthen the capacity of 31 municipalities of the Northern Cape in order to render quality services to communities.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Description<\/p>\n

The programme which gives support to all 31 Northern Cape municipalities monitors and support municipalities on governance; municipal performance; intergovernmental relations, participatory democracy; accountability, integrated development planning; as well as legislative compliance in the province.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Structure<\/p>\n

This Programme consists of the following sub-programmes and their purposes:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Municipal Administration\n
      \n
    • To ensure legislative compliance and good governance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • Municipal Performance Monitoring, Reporting and Evaluation\n
        \n
      • To improve and support performance management, property valuations and Back to Basics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
      • Municipal Infrastructure\n
          \n
        • To promote, facilitate, coordinate and monitor infrastructure development and provision of free basic services at municipalities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
        • Public Participation\n
            \n
          • To tackle poverty, provide livelihood support for poor households and maximise public participation and community involvement in matters of local government<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
          • Municipal Planning<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            To strengthen the planning capacity of 31 municipalities to perform their functions<\/p>\n
