Consular services

The Department of International Relations and Cooperation provides consular services to South African nationals who work, live, travel and study abroad.

Depending on the service you require, a valid form of identification may be requested. If in doubt and when possible an initial telephonic enquiry may save time later. Consular services are free unless otherwise specified.

Services may include assistance in emergencies, legal help or assistance to replace lost or stolen travel documents.
