1. Apply for a Driving Licence
After passing your learner’s licence test, you can apply for a driving licence. Book a test at a driving licence testing centre (DLTC), pay the fee, and pass both yard and road tests.

2. Apply for a Learner’s Licence
Before learning to drive, you need a learner’s licence. Apply at a DLTC, write a test on road rules and signs, and pass to get the licence. Minimum age depends on vehicle type.

3. Apply for a Professional Driving Permit (PrDP)
Required for operating public transport, goods vehicles, or dangerous goods transport. Apply at a DLTC with a valid driving licence, medical certificate, criminal clearance, and pay the applicable fee.

4. Apply for a Temporary Driving Licence
Issued while waiting for a permanent licence card. Apply at the DLTC with your ID, proof of application for a permanent card, and payment.

5. Convert a Foreign Driving Licence
If you are a permanent resident with a foreign licence, you can convert it to a South African one. Submit ID, foreign licence, confirmation letter, and eye test at a DLTC.

6. Renew a Driving Licence
Driving licences must be renewed every 5 years. Apply before expiry at a DLTC, bring your ID, old licence card, and eye test results. Temporary licences are issued while you wait.

7. Replace a Lost or Stolen Driving Licence
If your licence card is lost, stolen, or damaged, apply for a replacement at a DLTC. Submit an affidavit, ID, and eye test, and pay the required fee.
