OPENING OF NEW CLINICS – PAMPIERSTAD & HARTSWATER
The MEC of Health in province, Mr Mxolisi Sokatsha, hereby invites all media to the officially opening of following two new clinics:
- Pampierstad -Phokwane Municipality- Frances Baard District
- Hartswater- Phokwane Municipality- Frances Baard District
The new clinics are part of government’s 10 point plan for the health sector as capsulated under the revitalization of health infrastructure and improving the quality of health care services. The projects are part of the MEC’s Budget Speech as delivered in June 2009. The construction of the Pampierstad clinic started in May 2008 and reached practical completion by September 2009 at a cost of R6M. The Hartswater clinic construction started in March 2007 and was completed by September 2009 at a cost of R6M.The reason for the delay in completion was due to the adding of staff accommodation at these clinics.
Building new clinics, upgrading existing health care facilities, provision of personnel, equipment, medicine and transport, are all part and parcel of improving health service delivery in the province. In addition to building new clinics, government is working hard to improve the quality of care that is provided within all our health care facilities. This is in line with our vision as the Northern Cape Department of Health, namely “Health service excellence for all”.
The partners in these projects are the Northern Cape Provincial Department of Health, the Phokwane Local Municipality as well as the Department of Roads and Public Works. These projects are a true reflection that working together, we can do more.
Other dignitaries expected to accompany the MEC of Health are the Speaker of the Provincial Legislature, Chairperson and members of the Provincial Portfolio Committee on Health, Members of the Executive Council, the Executive Mayor of the Frances Baard District Municipality, the Mayor of the Phokwane Local Municipality, Municipal counselors as well as senior officials from the Provincial and District Department of Health.
